Titles may not be shown 100% of the time because it would create lag (like mini pets) do for some individuals. They also refuse to allow more than 1 title/character because it would create more lag in outposts, if everyone was displaying 3-6 titles.

We can? In what way?

you should take his words with a pinch of salt.
after sending him the link to the recent izzy interview on WoC, which he requested for in another thread, he told me that Factions sales were doing incredibly poor due to ANet not catering to PvE. when asked to provide sources of the poor sales figures, he sent me irrelevant links, i called him out on that, he said he was busy that day and would find it later. then, he later PMed me, said i was trying to 'start something' and has since disappeared.
go figure!

Going by this (flawed) logic, excessive local chat in the form of speech bubbles would cause lag too
The real reason I think is that it could just look a bit stupid having characters running around town with up to 4 lines of text under their names.
However, it would be nice to have those titles pop up if you selected that character as your target.

Here are some titles I wouldnt personally be interested in, but I think would be nice for the game.
They are all non permanent, but not too time consuming to get. I mostly intend them to be things you might get whilst doing whatever you're doing, (and want to show them off) rather than things you specifically aim for.
Achievement titles:
Eg.
- Member of the team that currently holds the all time / daily / etc record in Challenge Mission XXX.
- Member of a team that has held HoH successfully this month / week / today.
- A series of titles denoting the highest rank guild you've defeated this week / month.
etc.
Streak Titles:
eg.
- Held HoH at least once in a week for the last 2 / 4 / 8 etc weeks.
- Held a particular non-permanent title for 2 / 4 / 8 weeks in a row.
- Has completed 5 missions successfully in a row without quitting, failing, or disconnecting.
Rate Titles:
eg.
- Has earned 2000 / 5000 / 10000 Balth Faction in the past 7 days.
- Same as above for Kurz/Lux faction
Special area titles:
- Seperate titles for each: Have completed all quests in Sorrows, UW, or FoW. etc.

Describe why you like titles, and why you want more.
or why you don't like titles.

I used to play CoV. Titles in that game are 3,000times harder to get. Well ones that are worth having. I don't believe any title is GW is actually hard rather so it is...Long and Time Consuming. But titles should be a sense of accomplishment and people should be proud to know that all their wasted time is paying off somewhere

Now that WOULD be an achievment. People who get that title must have a looottaa exp too, hehe, but yeah, I would like that title to be implemented.

Same here Gli, and I really can't stand the forms of PvP that bestow titles

I think some of the titles are abit of a waste of time.. but getting grandmaster tyrian cartagropher i think is a small achievement, even if it only means something to yourself... the intorduction of titles (the ones im trying to pursue) are making the game a little more interesting to me at least!

I personally love the mix of titles that they have right now. We just have to realize that people have different ways that they like to play the game.
Role Players - Protector Of Tyria, Protector of Cantha
Completionists - Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer, Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer
Grinders - Treasure Hunter, Seeker of Wisdom
Flippant/Fun Seekers - Drunkard
Non-Guild PvPers - Gladiator
Guild PvPers - Rank Titles
Alliance PvPers - Friend Titles
Personally, I think that the "Kind of a Big Deal" title should require a mix of all of these, instead of just getting the Protectors/Cartographers/Grinder titles. A mix of PvE and PvP would make that title really "a big deal".
I love the idea of having a temporary title like those that won HoH for a week or so. Gives them the incentive to continually go back to maintain that title, which would rekindle interest in HoH.
I would also like to see another PvE title regarding completing all quests related to your primary and/or secondary professions. But that's just the completionist in me.
I agree that the XP or Balthazar Faction titles aren't a good idea, given the "farming" that already occurs in PvE and PvP.

I got Protector of Tyria and Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer on my necromancer, but I wouldn't do it again. There's no sense of personal achievement doing it another time... makes me wish all the titles were account based to be honest
I hated all the titles linked to spending vast amounts of cash and mind numbing repetition. No thanks.

It is a grind-free game. I have fow on my warrior, over 900k in storage, and still have around 30 ectos extra.
I have not grinding once, in pve that is.
